PRECEDENT STUDY (JAPAN)

Librio Yukuhashi Library

a 4-storey multi-purpose complex located in Omachi, Japan and designed by Mikami Architects in 2020. This 2150sq.m. library is positioned along the bank of the Nagasa River on the boundary between 2 former villages (Gyōji & Ōhashi). It serves to embodies the difference by engaging bustling city & local residents and by improving user-friendliness for the local residents through education and gathering. The building intents to merge, repair, preserve the townscape of the two former village areas. Thus, the upper and lower levels were purposefully twisted to face the Former Gyōji and Ōhashi Villages, respectively
